Managerial Update

After the sacking of manager Nigel Pearson in a shock move by Leicester City’s Thai owners, after a perceived difference in opinion over the future direction of the club, the club have been linked with a number of manager’s both in and out of work currently.

The bookies made Bolton Wanderers manager and former Leicester midfielder Neil Lennon as manager with the former Fox said to be keen on the role as he continues to build his reputation in the Championship after early success at Scottish giants Celtic.

Reports suggested that the Thai owners were keen on appointing a high profile manager to show their intent on turning the club into contenders for European places in the future. Out-of-work managers such as Jurgan Klopp and Guus Hiddink have been mooted in the press with Foxes fans known to favour a mover for German maestro Klopp, but the likelihood of the former Borussia Dortmund manager being keen on the job has been rubbished.

Recent reports have seen a move for American duo Preki and Bob Bradley as jumping to the top of the bookies favourites, but Foxes fans are known to be unhappy with the possible appointment of two guys who have no experience of managing in England and have done little in their careers to warrant a move to the Premier League.

Other names linked include the Italian trio of Roberto Di Matteo, Gianfranco Zola and Claudio Ranieri but again Foxes fans are seemingly underwhelmed with these names. Also linked has been Brian Laudrup who fits the high profile picture that the owners are reported to want, as well as PSV coach Phillip Cocu.

Sako Link Not Dead

Leicester City are still interested in signing 27 year old former Wolves midfielder Bakary Sako despite the recent uncertainty at the King Power Stadium. The Malian international has been linked with fellow Midlands club Aston Villa as well as Everton but it is thought that City have moved to the top of the queue.

Former manager Nigel Pearson was a known admirer of Sako and it remains to be seen if the purchase of the midfielder will be completed before the new manager is installed but the form of the midfielder who hit 15 goals for Wolves in the Championship last season, will mean he will move into serious contention if he finally makes the move to the Foxes.

Kante Move Likely

Leicester City look to have won the race for Caen midfielder N’Golo Kante for a fee reported to be around £7.8 million after French giants Marseille, who were also interested in the uncapped Frenchman, have begun to look elsewhere with former Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra a reported target.

Cambiasso Waiting

Esteban Cambiasso has stalled on signing a new contract with the Foxes after the sacking of manager Nigel Pearson with the Argentine legend, who won the player of the year accolade for Leicester last season, waiting to see who will be the new manager.

Reports had surfaced that Cambiasso was ready to commit to another year with the Foxes before the sacking of Pearson but it remains to be seen if the popular midfielder will return to the club with Aston Villa reportedly monitoring the situation.

James Making Progress

Long term injured midfielder Matty James is making good progress as he continues his recover from a serious knee injury that is likely to keep him out until Christmas. James has already come off the crutches and has started walking unaided though he has conceded he is still a long way from fitness and will be under the watchful eye of the club’s medical team to ensure he doesn’t return from the injury too quickly.
