Cambiasso in Leicester Talks
Leicester City are reported to be in talks with Argentinian Esteban Cambiasso about extending his stay in the Premier League for another season. There has been interest from other clubs in the former Real Madrid midfielder with an MLS club reported to have noted their interest as well as the Agentinian’s former side River Plate.
The Foxes are hoping to persuade the influential midfielder to extend his stay for another season and after being voted the club’s Player of the Year, the fans showed their appreciation of Cambiasso when he was given a standing ovation in the 5-1 drubbing of QPR, on the final day of the season.
Football365.com reported manager Nigel Pearson’s hopes of Cambiasso’s stay when he said “We hope he does stay and discussions are on-going, we’d love him to be here again next year because he’s proven throughout the season that he brings an awful lot to a Premier League side, even at his age.He has performed exceptionally well and is a really good pro, but he’s experienced some pretty amazing periods during his career”
“He’s got a great CV and you don’t know how psychologically a season like this takes out of somebody who has not experienced this sort of thing before.The emotional side of it is not an easy thing to do and he’ll be aware of the fabulous reception he got. But he’ll need time to reflect and we’ll allow him that time.”
Leicester Keen on Manchester United Youngster
Leicester are reported to be keen on signing out of contract Manchester United youngster Tom Thorpe during the summer, as the Red Devils reserve captain looks set to leave in search of regular first team football.
Leicester have a number of former Manchester United youngster’s on their books including midfielders Matty James and Danny Drinkwater as well as attacking full-back Ritchie De Laet.
Logan to Leave in the Summer
Leicester City reserve goalkeeper Conrad Logan has confirmed on his twitter feed that he will be leaving the club in the summer after 14 seasons at the club. Logan has been out on loan at a number of clubs over the last few seasons after dropping out of contention as reserve goalkeeper with Rochdale reported to be interested in signing the shot-stopper.
Leicester Release Pre-Season Friendly Details
Leicester have released details of their pre-season schedule to date with ties against Midlands sides such as Burton Albion, Mansfield Town, Lincoln City and a trip to former defender Gary Rowett’s Birmingham City.
The Foxes in recent seasons have played a marquee fixture at their King Power Stadium but there has yet to be an announcement of who Nigel Pearson’s side will play in their last warm-up game before the new Premier League season starts.
