With football currently being on-hold at the moment and no matches taking place it is prime time for transfer rumours and gossip to start up. The English Premier League would be in its final stages if it wasn’t for the Covid-19 pandemic and it would be a natural time for some rumours to start and they are now one of the only way football fans can get any sort of football fix. So with little activity taking place in the world of football, and Leicester City we thought we’d have a look through some of the latest transfer rumours surrounding Leicester City at this current time.
The main transfer rumour at the moment revolves around Caglar Soyuncu. The centre back has had a fantastic season after filling the boots of Harry Maguire after his move to Manchester United and it seems to not have gone unnoticed. According to numerous reports in the UK press Caglar Soyuncu is a key target of both Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League and also Spanish giants Barcelona. It might not be all bad news for Leicester City fans looking at these stories though. Although many reports suggest a fee in the region of £45m could be on the cards the Daily Mail are reporting that Leicester City are also confident that the player could be about to sign a new contract with the club, showing he is a key member of the team and the squad.
Leicester fans will probably be a bit more cheered by the lack of rumours currently circulating about left back Ben Chilwell. It seems like there has been transfer talk surrounding Chilwell since he first broke into the Leicester City team. Manchester City are usually linked with the player and their name has popped up again of late but the main talk is a bid from Chelsea. Over the last few months there has been numerous reports of Chelsea preparing to make a bid for Chilwell or weighing the prospect of making a bid. Other press reports also suggest Chelsea have 4 other potential left back targets and a reported £80m asking price might be enough to keep their interest away.
Another interesting rumour is regarding midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. Some reports suggest that both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are keen to sign the highly rated midfielder. If these rumours have any truth in them then Leicester City fans could be quietly pleased that along with these rumours come others that the club are set to reject all approaches for Ndidi and are determined to keep the player at the club.
There are also some very interesting rumours regarding transfer targets of Leicester City as well. One name that keeps cropping up is the Brazilian player Philippe Coutinho who seems to have found himself surplus to requirements at Barcelona. It isn’t a rumour we’d get too excited about though as Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has recently suggested he thinks the player would be well out of Leicester’s price range. Betfair however have him priced up at 9/1 to sign for Leicester City before the summer transfer window closes, probably not a bet for us.
Another player there seems to be a lot of talk around is the Sporting Lisbon young forward Gonzalo Plata. The Leicester Mercury have been reporting Leicester City are keen on the player but now facing competition from Premier League rivals Watford.
As always these rumours will continue, change, with some coming true and some others vanishing into oblivion. We will here at Leicester City News though continue to monitor these and bring them to you as we find them and keep you posted on the latest transfer news and rumours.
