Bournemouth secured their second consecutive Europa League win with a 3-0 victory over Sturm Graz on Thursday. Goals from Evanilson, Rayan and Alvaro Rodriguez sealed a commanding performance at the Vitality Stadium.
Evanilson opened the scoring with a header before the interval. Rayan and substitute Alvaro Rodriguez added further goals after the break to complete the comfortable win.
Record attendance
The match was Bournemouth's first European home game at their stadium. A crowd of over 12,000 set a new record for the ground since it became all-seater.
Historical achievement
This result means Bournemouth are now on the verge of a notable English milestone. If they win their next group match, they will become the first English club since Bolton Wanderers in the 2005/06 season to win their opening two fixtures in a major European competition.
Sturm Graz, managed by Fabio Ingolitsch, have now lost ten of their last eleven European away games. Their last victory over English opposition came in 1970.
Bournemouth's head coach Marco Rose saw his side bounce back from a heavy Premier League defeat to Chelsea the previous weekend. Leicester City's next fixture is at home to Doncaster on Saturday, 17 October.
