Leicester City are reportedly in advanced talks to appoint Russell Martin as their new manager, replacing Gary Rowett. Martin has been on City's radar for years and was previously linked with the job. The 52-year-old was sacked by Rangers after just 17 games at the club last season. He had previously led Southampton to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs. Owner Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha is said to be an admirer of Martin's style of play, which closely resembles the one which Enzo Maresca brought to the King Power Stadium in the 2023/24 season. Gary Rowett is currently in charge of City but was a short-term one and due to expire at the end of last season. No communication has been given on whether the 52-year-old would stay beyond the agreement. Now, The Telegraph's John Percy has reported that the Foxes are in 'advance talks' to appoint Martin. It's said that the former Scotland international has not accepted the job as of yet, but is Leicester's prime target. As well as talks with Leicester, Martin is also in discussions with clubs in England and overseas. But the task of bringing the Foxes out of the third tier is being 'seriously' considered. Pre-season will start for City at the end of the month meaning Martin will have plenty of time to work with his squad. The Foxes will kick-off the League One campaign in the middle of August.
