The change would also open a place for Louis Page to join the starting XI alongside Liam Cullen or Conor Chaplin in the attacking midfield slot, if fitness allows.

Harry Souttar and Wout Faes

Harry Souttar captained the team for the third straight game, despite reportedly telling the club he wants to leave and having interest from Sheffield United. Wout Faes, who was absent due to transfer speculation, was not considered a viable replacement.

Martin noted that while Faes is a better defender than the current options, his signing had been a disaster and his time at the club should have ended earlier.

Squad Rotation and Future Matches

With Skipp sent off, Hamza Choudhury was expected to start the next three games. Martin also hinted that the performances of Harry Howell and Tommy Watson, who were on the bench against Burton, could earn them starting roles against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup and MK Dons in the league.
