Leicester City forward Lorenz Hutchinson is targeting a move to Lazio after a £1.2m deadline-day bid from the Italian club collapsed. The 18-year-old striker's contract expires next summer and he is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club in January.
Lazio's offer, which included a 20% sell-on clause, fell apart in September over a payment dispute. The club now expects one of its top prospects to depart.
Hutchinson remains keen on joining the Serie A side, which is currently joint-top of the Italian league. He is believed to be frustrated by the breakdown of the initial transfer. Leicester made efforts to secure a new deal for the youngster, but no agreement has been reached.
The situation unfolds as Leicester sit 10th in League One with 15 points from 10 games, having recorded four wins, three draws and three losses so far this season. They are seven points behind the league leaders, Stockport County. The team's recent form shows three wins and two losses from the last five, a run that includes the 4-0 victory over Bromley last Tuesday where goals came from William Thomas-Alves, John Lundstram, Luke Thomas and Emil Riis Jakobsen. That followed a 2-1 win over Doncaster last Saturday, with Lundstram and K. Doyle on the scoresheet. Leicester have scored 16 goals and conceded 15 this campaign.
The club's next fixture is away to 13th-placed Luton on Saturday, 24 October. With Hutchinson's future uncertain, Leicester will prepare for the Luton match without the forward, who has not featured in the recent league campaign. His potential departure in January would mark the end of his development at the King Power Stadium, with the team's current top scorer this season being E. Riis with four goals in six appearances.
