Leicester City's Oliver Skipp is reportedly a target for Preston, who are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season. The 25-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough already this summer, but Preston are now believed to be keen on sealing his signature. Skipp has been with Leicester City since 2024, but has experienced back-to-back relegations in the East Midlands. He has also amassed over 100 Premier League appearances across spells with Tottenham and the Foxes. Preston are looking to replace captain Ben Whiteman, who has expressed a desire to leave the club. Wrexham have reportedly seen an offer accepted for Whiteman's services, with North End boss Paul Heckingbottom pushing to make instant reinforcements to his midfield options. Skipp emerged through Spurs' youth ranks to become a regular in their first-team squads as a teenager during the 2018-19 campaign. He impressed enough to earn a loan move to promotion-chasing Championship outfit Norwich in 2020, and made 45 league appearances under Daniel Farke as they finished first with 97 points. Three more seasons as a rotation option at Tottenham followed before he joined Leicester two years ago, but his move has not gone to plan so far. Several high-profile Foxes stars have already moved on ahead of the new campaign, with his former midfield partner Harry Winks joining Serie A side Cagliari. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 23rd in Championship, 46 pts, 12W-16D-18L from 46 games, recent form WDDLL.
