Leicester City's next opponents Peterborough United have denied that Robbie Savage has been offered their vacant manager's position. The claim was made by Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince, but Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry has contradicted it.
Barry Fry stated in text messages that Robbie Savage has 'not yet' been offered the position made available by the sacking of Luke Williams earlier this month. Forest Green had given Savage permission to speak to Peterborough, with Vince saying the 51-year-old had been offered the job and that compensation talks were underway.
Managerial search continues
Peterborough have confirmed that further interviews for the role are scheduled for Tuesday, October 6. Fry said other candidates remain in contention for the job at a club sitting 23rd in League One with just one win from eight matches. They host Ipswich Under-21s in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy that same day.
Savage's situation
Robbie Savage, who was interviewed on Monday, will not be involved in Forest Green's National League fixture against Wealdstone on Tuesday. His first game in charge of Peterborough, should he be appointed, would be the League One visit to the King Power Stadium on October 10.
Leicester City, currently 14th in the table with nine points from seven games, will be looking to build on their recent form of three wins from their last five matches. Peterborough's next steps in their managerial hunt will be closely watched by Leicester supporters, with the key league fixture now just ten days away.
