Leicester City delivered a dominant attacking display to thrash Fulham Under-21s 6-1 in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday. Admir Bristric scored a first-half hat-trick and Bobby Reid contributed two goals and three assists in a one-sided Group South contest at the King Power Stadium.
Russell Martin's side, who sit 13th in League One with nine points from seven games, took control from the outset. Bristric opened the scoring after 15 minutes, then added a second nine minutes later from Reid's pass. His third arrived on 34 minutes, this time assisted by William Alves. Tom Watson then struck twice before the break, both times set up by Reid, to make it 5-0. Fulham's Seth Chingwaro pulled one back in first-half stoppage time, but Reid completed the rout five minutes after the restart with a goal of his own.
Statistical dominance
The scoreline reflected Leicester's overwhelming control of the match. They enjoyed 65 per cent possession and fired 35 shots, with 11 on target, compared to Fulham's 10 attempts. The hosts also won 11 corners to the visitors' one. Martin made three changes around the hour mark, introducing Woyo Coulibaly, Will Lawrence, Tommy Neale and Lorenz Hutchinson, while Fulham also utilised their bench.
This emphatic victory provides a confidence boost ahead of a key league period. Leicester's recent form in League One shows three wins, a draw and a loss from their last five outings. The squad's depth was on full show in this cup match, a positive sign as the club looks to climb from mid-table.
